Pugachev's Court

Yamelyan Pugachev led a rebellion against the Tsar, the Tsar's exploitative aristocratic nobles and an ever-present army of rapacious orthodox priests. Pushin wrote a story about this rebellion: "Daughter of the Regiment". Perov created art to give an idea what these times were like.
